The mission of the Postgraduate Program in Geoscience (PPGG) is to promote the scientific advancement of graduates; specifically aiming at the qualification of higher education professors and primary education teachers, researchers and professionals with degrees in Geology, Geological Engineering, Geophysics and related areas.
Our intention is to interrelate tectonic and stratigraphic evolution of sedimentary basins, its crystalline basement and oceanic crust. This also incorporates research pertaining to the generation and evolution of economically important natural resources, such as metals, oil and gas, and industrial materials.
Incorporating a holistic approach to geologic studies, the PPGABFM contemplates Archean and Paleoproterozoic evolution, which encompasses the amalgamation of the Gondwana Supercontinent through Brazilian mobile belts, generation and evolution of Gondwanian intracratonic basins, nucleation and evolution of Atlantic continental margins and petrolific sedimentary basins associated with the separation of Brazil-Africa since the Cretaceous, and climate and global eustatic changes during the Cenozoic.
